Disney- A Name That Needs No Introduction
The origins of the very first Disney inspired watch date back to 1932, when a man from Kansas City named Herman Kamen suggested the idea of a Mickey Mouse watch to Walt Disney, who initially didn’t think the idea would be a success. Just one year later in 1933, the Disney Company submitted a patent to produce a watch featuring Mickey Mouse, one of the most recognizable Disney characters in the entire world, who has formed a part of every generation's childhood since 1928. The very first Disney watch was released as both a wristwatch and a pocket watch, launched at the 1933 Chicago Exposition ‘Century of Progress’ and featured an image of Mickey Mouse on the dial with his animated hands moving to the minutes and hours. This watch proved to be an instant success, with the moving hands still often featured as a signature design feature to this day. Today, almost 100 years later, Disney watches are still a treasured favourite by both adults and children alike, available in a range of styles and themes.
