They are the tallest land mammals after all, with an average neck length of 180cm, with some giraffes having necks that are 300 cm in length! Despite its unusually long neck, the giraffe features the same number of vertebrae as humans. They know how to defend themselves and can kick really hard with their front hooves to defend their young. In fact, an adult can kill a lion with a single hefty kick. They can go for days without water, and graze across the treetops of the Southern African Savannah.
