In the Regula movement, the time ratchet wheel is part of the time train, the section of the clock responsible for measuring and displaying time (separate from the cuckoo and striking trains).

If the ratchet wheel or the click fails—due to wear, damage, or improper assembly—the weight will unwind freely, causing the clock to stop functioning or even damage internal components.
