About The Swan

The mute swan has a 2.4 metre wingspan, and weighs up to 13kg, making it one of the largest birds able to fly. With bright white feathers, the swan is not vocal like other species, hence the name mute swan. These large birds are part of the water fowl order and prefer to live by lakes and ponds. They feed on water plants and small animals. When foraging for food they dabble with their long necks and heads in the water.
