Measuring an impressive 118cm in height, this beautiful traditional regulator clock features an elegant chapter ring dial with raised Arabic numerals and elegant black hands set against an impressive brass dial with floral detail. Above the dial is an inset Moon dial which displays the phases of the Moon as it progresses through a complete lunar month of 29.5 days. Rounding out the body of this fascinating clock is a traditional solid timber walnut stained case with both front and side bevelled glass panels to allow high visiblity into the movement. In addition this clock has beautiful features including neat polished brass weights & a lyre pendulum, with side columns that add extra detail. What is a Regulator Wall Clock?

A regulator wall clock is defined as a weight driven clock regulated by a swinging pendulum. This type of clock was invented in the late 1700’s, to improve the accuracy of spring wound clocks. Regulator wall clocks are available in both striking and chiming weight driven models, as well as highly accurate clocks that do not make a sound, and rather than winding a spring in the dial, the weights are wound similar to that of a grandfather clock. Some models are both weight and spring wound, so the weight delivers constant power to the pendulum to keep the time, whilst the chimes and strike are operated by springs.
